Professor David Wilson |
About David "Professor David Wilson is perhaps Britain's best known and controversial criminologist. Regularly featured on the BBC and other TV channels, both as a presenter and as a contributor, and a regular in The Guardian, he brings a refreshingly down to earth style to some of the most intractable criminological problems of the day - from the release of paedophiles and the motivation of serial killers to the failures of our police and penal system." David Wilson is Professor of Criminology at the Centre for Criminal Justice Policy and Research at the University of Central England. Prior to taking up an academic appointment in 1997, David was a Prison Governor and at 29 became the youngest governing governor in England. He worked at Grendon, Wormwood Scrubs and at Woodhill in Milton Keynes - where he designed and ran the two units for the 12 most violent prisoners in the country, which brought him into contact for virtually every recent serial killer. His recent television appearances include Newsnight, Election Unspun, and Tonight with Trevor MacDonald. his last documentary Too Young to Die? was screened on BBC1 in January, and he has just finished filming Identity for BBC2 |
